More reviews of the Americanized N95 are rolling in, with Wirelessinfo taking a looksie at the 3G version. The quick-and-dirty takeaway is that the double dose of RAM makes things much snappier, even with lots of memory-intensive apps running—the available RAM’s actually quadrupled, since the OS takes up the same amount as before.
Infosyncworld.com reviewed the new Cingular 3125 (aka HTC Star Trek). Here is what they concluded:
What’s positive:
Rich, clean screen. Lots of included functionality with Windows Mobile, especially on such a small, thin phone. Looks great.
What’s negative:
Not for power users who need to edit documents. Buttons are a little stiff and very flat, which makes navigating just a bit difficult.
Conclusion:
Overall, the Cingular 3125 makes for a powerful business sidekick given that it’s a relatively compact clamshell. Armed with Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition, the 3125 packs in push e-mail capabilities, an Office document viewer (no editing, but this is a flip-phone after all), robust contact and calendar management, and surprisingly impressive multimedia capabilities. The 3125’s design is certainly unique, but never feels cheap or simply cosmetic. If you wish your RAZR could do a lot more, but don’t need a full-fledged Windows Mobile device, the 3125 is an excellent choice.
78% Very good
Last week Cingular announced their new 3125 clamshell style smartphone. On the exterior, it looks like a Motorola RAZR. But internally it more resembles the popular 2125. Could this be a good replacement for the 2125? I cannot say, but what I can and will say is that it is all a matter of preference. Some people prefer a clamshell style phone. It is smaller, lighter and looks sleek. While on the other hand, a candy bar style phone is a lot better to grab especially for those of us with bigger hands. Regardless, with the sucess of the Motorola RAZR I can safely predict that the Cingular 3125 will sell very well.
First of all, a BIG THANKS, again, to Ka Wang Yee of JAVOEdge, for providing me with the JAVOMeta Charger bundle (US) for the Palm Treo 650 for review, which without it, this review could not have been made possible. It arrived a week later after it was shipped via USPS, which was the same shipping time as with the JAVOHolster, which I previously reviewed here.
The first thing I noticed when I put the skin on my SDA was the feel – I loved the soft rubber feel of it. I was concerned that the rubber might be susceptible to accumulating dust really quickly, but the opposite is true. Even in my lint-filled jeans pocket, it stays clean. Another nice benefit, if you’re like me, was that the phone no longer falls sideways in your pocket, but stays upright as I want it to. Sounds like a small thing, but it makes a huge comfort difference when you always have your phone in your front jeans pocket.
A quick thanks to Ka Wang Yee from JAVOEdge for providing me with the JAVOHolster for the the review. Without it, this review would not have been possible.
The package arrived a week after it was shipped from JAVOEdge and was enclosed in the USPS shipping box wrapped in plastic packaging.
I received the JavoSkin for T-Mobile’s SDA and have had the opportunity to thoroughly test and review the product. The JavoSkin is made of silicone and features an Enhanced Anti Dust (EAD) coating to reduce dust attraction. The JavoSkin improves grip, helps to protect the SDA from scratches and also absorbs shock if your SDA is dropped.
JavoEdge recently released a Silicone case for the Cingular 2125. It provides shock protection and a solid grip to the phone. It boasts EAD (Enhanced Anti Dust) coating. Dust attraction was a problem plaguing other similar types of cases. It also comes in 5 colors or tints. I chose the Frosty Blue one for this review. The JavoEdge case showed up in a nice plastic container that didn’t require power tools to open as most packages of this type usually do.
