We so know this isn’t a huge deal, but for those that are waiting for it, it might be nice to see some more confirmation. The BlackBerry 8820 will indeed be heading to T-Mobile on March 5th as we’ve previously reported. Nothing has changed since then, with the device sporting the Hotspot@Home Wi-Fi calling, GPS, and the usual BlackBerry 8800 features. Midnight blue is the color this time around (wasn’t that Cingular’s color?), but with the leaked slide highlighting “High-speed internet”, we’ve got to wonder what T-Mobile has up its sleeve…Ah, never mind! They mean Wi-Fi is high speed!

You asked for ‘em, so here you go! Thanks to BBGeeks.com, we’ve got our hands on some of the first shots of what clearly appears to be the CDMA version of the BlackBerry Curve. This BlackBerry Curve 8330 looks pretty similar to the current GSM version of the handset, with a keyboard that looks identical to that of the Red 8310 currently available on AT&T. This should dispel any fear that the CDMA Curve would depart from the GSM version’s wildly successful form factor. We’re not able to tell much else from the shots, but we can confirm that this handset will include a GPS radio. No word on availability, but chances are good that we won’t see an announcement until sometime next month. Hit the jump for some more shots.

A couple of new Blackberry patents have been unearthed that may or may not give us some hints as to what to expect in upcoming models. First up is a design for a phone with a screen that angles up, presumable for watching video when the phone is placed on a flat surface. The second patent is for a new LCD touchscreen technology.

Nokia, who’s supposedly super loyal to the Symbian platform, is currently in talks with Microsoft (says one of Microsoft’s marketing directors) to load Windows Mobile on the handset maker’s phones. Here’s what Nokia already uses of Microsoft’s: ActiveSync and PlayReady, but like an anxious teenaged lover, Microsoft is working “closely” with Nokia and wants to “go all the way”. It’s too early to determine whether or not you’re going to be able to buy a Nokia with WinMo on it, but it’s all but guaranteed that they’ll still be selling phones with Symbian—so no worries S60 fans.

If some of our tipsters are to be believed, you very well might be able to mosey on down to your local T-Mobile shop and pickup a BlackBerry 8820 on March 5th. We’ve been told the unit will be identical to the AT&T version, but this time around it will support T-Mobile’s Hotspot@Home service (obviously!). We haven’t got our thumbs on the pricing info just yet, but believe you me, you’ll have it when we’ve got it!

AT&T has officially announced this morning that 2008 will be a very big year for its wireless broadband networks. America’s largest cellular provider has plans to expand its 3G coverage into more than 80 new cities in 2008. The target is to cover more than 350 leading US markets by the end of the year and involves rolling out over 1,500 new cell towers nationwide. An average of over four new cell sites per day is a pretty lofty goal but apparently AT&T is up to the challenge. Beyond expansion, AT&T will also focus on some eagerly anticipated improvements. That’s right, HSUPA, bitches! Current uplink speeds on AT&T’s 3G network average between 500 and 800kbps at best, and HSUPA will do a great deal to improve those speeds. The transition to HSUPA, once completed, will make AT&T the only US provider to fully adopt HSPA standards. President and CEO Ralph de la Vega states, “With these aggressive initiatives, we’re expanding the scope and the speed of our 3G capabilities, connecting people with their world and enabling more customers to do more with their wireless devices, wherever they may be.“ What’s more, AT&T will be looking towards the future while modernizing and expanding their current networks. De la Vega goes on to say, “We’re also planning for the future by establishing a clear path to a 4G network that will meet the needs of our customers for years to come.” No time line was given as far as 4G is concerned, but the current plans of 3G expansion and enhancement will do a great deal to satisfy current customers and attract new ones. There’s nothing worse than having a 3G handset with no 3G coverage to back it up!
Wait, wait, is that US 3G we see on that N82 there? Nope! Just another color, we’re afraid. Nokia’s newly darkened N82 has broken cover on its US (ironically) web store ahead of a probably MWC announcement; we liked the white one quite a bit when we spent some quality time with it, but we like choice even more. Order it now for $629, and if the site is to be believed, you’ll have it on your doorstep shortly after the 12th of the month.
