Microsoft Backed ZenZui is Now Zumobi, Announces Beta of New Mobile Browser

Our first look at Microsoft backed ZenZui came back in March when we discovered a new mobile browser that promises to make “painful loading delays a thing of the past.” In a call today with the folks at ZenZui, I learned that they will now and forevermore be known as Zumobi, along with new details about the browser and information on how the general public can get involved in the beta that launches on December 14th.

Review: Toysoft’s “Freedom” Redirects Where your Treo’s Audio Comes Out.

Not every program that pumps audio out of your Treo’s speaker or headset jack is created equally, nor does each one give you a choice between listening to sounds over a wired headset or over the speakerphone.

When your options seem limited and your back is to the wall, it may be time for a little Freedom , an innovative hack from ToySoft, which eats up only 44k of internal RAM but can’t live on an SD card, Freedom’s purpose is to give you total control of when and where your Treo directs its sound output.

Unfortunately, Palm has STILL yet to natively implement the A2DP and AVRCP protocols in any of their PalmOS Treos. These protocol “stacks” let you listen to and control MP3s over a Bluetooth headset.

There are hardware solutions that do, such as Plantronics’ Pulsar 590A headphones. On the software side, there’s the very popular SofTick Audio Gateway, which enables A2DP on Treos; but I’m afraid that Freedom is not capable of achieving what these solutions do.

However, it is able to make a few small miracles happen, including redirecting sound to the internal earpiece when your headset is plugged in, or with a wired headset, giving you total control over its features and buttons (if present).

Get Palm OS up and running on your Nokia N-Series

Yeah, you read that correctly. It is now possible to run a version of Palm’s Garnet operating system on your favorite N-Series internet tablet device. We have no idea why anyone would want to go and ruin a perfectly good OS by slapping the Palm software on top of it, but hey, different strokes, right? To be fair, this is only possible by way of a clever bit of coding that allows for a virtual system to be installed on top of your N770, N800, or N810. This is an offical Access release, though. Making it even more appealing is the fact that it is completely free. Currently available as a beta product, the software should hit a full-scale release by the end of the year. With the impending release of the oh-so-nice N810, we could really see this this turning into a viable alternative to anyone that relies on the Palm OS but can’t take another Treo. Enjoy!
