Control your Treo with your brainwaves

Every once in a while a technology is presented at a trade show that truly captures the imagination. NeuroSky is such a product. It allows a user to control a computer or smartphone using only brainwaves. NeuroSky is intended for simple applications today but speaks volume about the direction of technology in the future.

Neurons that comprise the brain work on electrical impulses. Brainwaves of different wavelengths indicate emotional states, such as awareness, meditation, and drowsiness. NeuroSky utilizes a headset-sensor that measures changes in emotional state, processing the information on a computer or Windows Mobile device.

According to Neurosky, the technology has immediate applications for games, consumer electronics, health, wellness, education and training. The company is not planning to roll the technology out themselves. They are seeking other manufacturers to license the technology to create a variety of end-user products.
