HTC Develops the Shangri-la X9500: the Combination of Handheld and UMPC
Brighthand reports that High Tech Computer (HTC) Corp. is now developing the X9500 ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) that doubled as a handheld, called Shangri-La. This mobile device which will be able run both Vista and Windows Mobile 6 Professional operating system will be powered by an Intel Dothan 800 MHz CPU.
To run Windows Mobile, it will come equipped with a 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM, while for Windows Vista OS, it will include a 1GB of RAM and 30GB or 40GB HDD. The HTC’s UMPC and handheld combination will feature a sliding QWERTY keyboard hidden behind its 7-inch 800×480 pixel touch-screen display . When the display is slid aside to unveil the keyboard, it is going to flip up at an angle.
The Shangri-la X9500 will support 3G and wireless 802.11b/g as well as Bluetooth connectivity. According to Brighthand, other features like a built in web camera module for video conferencing, GSM phone functionality with GPRS and EDGE, at least one USB port, a miniSD slot, an external monitor output, a fingerprint reader, a GPS receiver and a 2800 mAh battery will also be included in the HTC X9500 ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) or Shangri-La. No idea on pricing and availability at the moment.
