Rumor: Nintendo of America Leaving Seattle

Nintendo and Microsoft have been campus buddies in Seattle, but Nintendo may be looking for some new digs, as Game Informer’s posted a rumor that Nintendo of America employees have been told the company is relocating as early as this fall. Current employees apparently have to decide whether they’ll move by June 1.

As the website points out, Nintendo of America was originally formed in New York City. Employees who decide to pass on moving will receive a severance package in return.

Nintendo of America has yet to respond to requests for comment — stay tuned.

Will Slacker be responsible for the Death of iPod?

Breaking the iPod’s stranglehold on the digital-music business would be no mean feat. Apple’s supremely simple device has 72 percent of the $21 billion market, and even Microsoft failed to make a dent. But what if there were an MP3 player that was even easier to use? That’s what we could get in June with the launch of the Slacker, a music player that automatically delivers tunes to you. All you have to do is decide whether or not you like them.

The Slacker is made by a San Diego startup of the same name, founded three years ago and led by the former CEOs of three of Apple’s (Charts, Fortune 500) digital-music rivals: iRiver (Jonathan Sasse), Musicmatch (Dennis Mudd) and Rio (Jim Cady). The first part of its service, 100 customizable Internet radio stations, launched in March. It’s from these stations that the device will download songs over Wi-Fi networks or satellite radio (with an optional car adapter).

The cheapest Slacker, with a 2-gigabyte flash drive, will cost $150; the largest, expected to have about 12GB, will be $400. The Slacker service comes free with banner ads or costs $7.50 a month without. When listening to a song, a user can press the “Love It” button to get more songs like it or the “Ban It” button to never hear it or its ilk again.

iPhone VS the new BlackBerry Curve

Isn’t It ironical that the title of my blog post says the new Blackberry Curve when the iPhone will only be available in the stores in US in the month of June. I guess there has been so much buzz created about the iPhone that it probably makes me feel that the iPhone has been around for quite sometime now.

Research in Motion (RIM) introduced a sleeker and sexier version of its popular smartphone yesterday (2nd May, 2007), the BlackBerry Curve (aka BlackBerry 8300). Its also the smallest and lightest full-QWERTY BlackBerry to date. The BlackBerry is one of the best smartphones available in the market so far so it is only appropriate to compare Apple’s revolutionary iPhone with the new BlackBerry Curve.

Both the smartphones have their advantages over the other, I have listed down the advantages of each of the smartphones below, however in my opinion its difficult to pick a clear winner as it really depends on your requirements to decide on which one to buy.
