First of all, a BIG THANKS, again, to Ka Wang Yee of JAVOEdge, for providing me with the JAVOMeta Charger bundle (US) for the Palm Treo 650 for review, which without it, this review could not have been made possible. It arrived a week later after it was shipped via USPS, which was the same shipping time as with the JAVOHolster, which I previously reviewed here.

JAVOMeta Charger

The JAVOMeta Charger bundle consists of the JAVOMeta Charger, a small, portable all-in-one charger adapter with both a car adapter and a wall adapter that allows charging of devices via the USB port, and the JAVOSync retractable Sync and Charge cable with hotsync button that allows simultaneous charging, and data transfer in one compact, retractable cable.

The JAVOMeta Charger is an all-in-one charger adapter. This innovative charger can easily replace all the extra adapters and chargers that most people may normally carry with them such one as for the car adapter, one for the wall, one for the USB, etc. With the JAVOMeta Charger, it offers all the same features and functions in one lightweight, portable, compact device.

At the top, it’s covered and protected with a removable cap. Underneath the protective cap is a car adapter that can plug into the car’s cigarette lighter to power and charge any portable device that connects and draws power from the USB port. At the back, the wall charger adapter prongs are normally folded in for protection. They can easily be snapped and flipped out to connect to the wall socket. The charger can support from 100-240 Volts AC and can automatically adjust to the correct voltage. It also has a built-in surge protection to protect your device when charging. At the front of the charger, there is an indicator light that will be red in color if the connected device is charging or green if it is fully charged. The charger comes in a sleek black color. It’s very lightweight and portable and with the protective cap and wall adapter plug flipped in, is very well protected for travel.

The JAVOSync retractable Sync and charge cable with hotsync button is an innovative retractable cable that offers many features for its small, compact and lightweight size. It functions very well as a replacement for the Palm device cradle or charger as it offers the capability to charge, synchronize and transfer data between the Palm device and the computer simulataneously. The hotsync button on the cable ensures a quick and easily accessible hotsync operation without having to manually run and open the Palm hotsync program and initiating the hotsync process. Simply press on the hotsync button and the hotsync process will initiate.

The cable can draw power to charge the Palm device through the USB port which can either be connected to the computer, laptop, or in the case of this JAVOMeta Charger bundle, to the JAVOMeta Charger that may be connected to a car’s cigarette lighter or to a wall outlet. The retractable cable can extend to a length of 35 inches and the length can be adjusted to various lengths simply by tugging at both ends of the cable and allowing the cable to lock into place. To retract it, simply pull again at the ends and the internal springs at the center of the cable loop will pull the cable back to its compact size. This cable offers much in terms of portability as it is extremely compact, lightweight and takes hardly any space at all when fully retracted.

I find that both the JAVOMeta Charger and JAVOsync Charge and Sync cable with hotsync button work great. I love how they are both compact, lightweight, portable and very self-contained. They hardly take up any space or weight. I do find that the hotsync button (and I have accidentally on numerous occasions) can easily be pressed when I either remove the connector from the Treo or when extending or retracting the cable. I have since corrected myself to hold the ends of the cable by the sides rather than at the top and bottom as I previously did. This eliminated my accidental hotsync button presses.

With multi-functional features, both the JAVOMeta Charger and the retractable JAVOSync Charge and Sync cable with hotsync button are an essential bundle of accessories for any frequent or even infrequent traveller, as they offer the ultimate in portability, size and weight. These devices can easily replace all the extra accessories that most travellers would need to carry yet offer all the same features and functions, without all the extra weight, bulk and cables. They are both compact and self-contained yet offer so much that they are well worth it.

consider these an essential bundle that everyone should get, regardless of whether they travel frequently or not. In this day and age of increased airport security, carrying less electronic accessories and devices can be very helpful to lessen the time spent when going through the checkpoints. Less electronics mean less hassles and scrutiny when going through the x-ray machines. As well, you can also appreciate and welcome the surprising decrease in the weight and bulk of your carry on bags, not to mention the tangling and untangling of cords and cables. Isn’t that well worth the price of the bundle?
